Moment to Remember

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.
The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

Caleb is getting old enough to want to earnestly try to do what big sister is doing.  This week I caught them both using the Do-A-Dot markers together.  Lydia was doing her Letter Mm pages and Caleb was having fun too.

Snapshot Sunday: Christmas Fun

This week we had some fun with Christmas projects.  Lydia helped wrap her present for Caleb and we made Candy Cane Mice, a project I learned at my MOPS Christmas Party.

Grandma called us on skype and Caleb talked to her and then decide to climb on the couch (for the first time) and have a seat next to grandma!

Thanksgiving

We were blessed to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with lots and lots of family.   We celebrated twice, one day with each family.  Some of the highlights:

  • Caleb got to show off his new walking skills for the great grandparents.
  • Lydia enjoyed jumping in a leaf pile made by Uncle Kevin and Grandpa
  • Caleb had some new words; E-I-E-I-O, and Grandma
  • We ate our first fried turkey
  • Lydia learned to play Angry Birds

Snapshot Sunday: Harvest Time

Eariler this week Bob came home from working with his dad on a project and wanted us to go outside with him.  The corn fields next door were being harvested!  So we got some shoes on and grabbed the camera and ran out to watch the giant machine take out the corn.  Lydia thought the machine was too loud at one point.  I guess we are city folk when its a big deal to watch the harvest...

Snapshot Sunday: Mommy & Me

Its rare that I am in a picture, and even rarer that I like the picture.  Bob took this one at a church picnic last week.  The coloration on the picture was off, and I editted it some more and really like how it turned out.

Snapshot Sunday: Birthday Party

The highlight of our week was Caleb's Birthday party last week.  We are still eating the left over food and the cake was finished on Wednesday. Enjoy a couple of my favorite pics of the kids and the cake.

Snapshot Sunday: Vacation

We are currently on vacation with Cynthia's family.  In a very special place.  Here some of the pics from our first day at the beach.  Which both kids loved.  We are enjoying resting and making memories with our family.

Snapshot Sunday: Rocking

We had a fairly relaxing trip, when we traveled last week.  The kids took a little break when we were waiting for dad during a lunch stop.  Gotta love Cracker Barrel!

Snapshot Sunday: Pretty in Blue

Caleb is very mobile and on this particular day he climbed on my leg and stuck his tongue out at me!

The dress Lydia is wearing is very special.  It is the same dress that her mother wore when her uncle was christened.  Mom was 4, Lydia was 2.5, I think we have a big girl on our hands.

Snapshot Sunday: Hide and Seek

Caleb is all boy when it comes to crawling and loves to get into everything.  He has enjoyed exploring Grandma and Grandpa Erickson's single level house this past week.  Lydia is afraid of Grandpa's dog Coco.  She likes to sit at the kitchen table to eat where she can see everything and is high above the dog. The morning this was taken she was eating breakfast and asked, "Where is Cubbie?"  She didn't realize he was climbing on the back of her chair and was directly be hind her thats why she couldn't see him.  THen she thought it was funny.

A few days later  when they were in the same positions she may have been caught passing Cubbie some fresh blueberries when Grandma wasn't looking while eating a snack...

Snapshot Sunday: I want to color too...

Now that Caleb is on the move, the kids can play together more. He is interested in what she is doing and wants to be a part of it. While we were staying with family we caught them together.

Snapshot Sunday: 100% Boy

Caleb is on the move. He has been rolling for a few months, and scooting for a couple weeks but this week he took off on all fours and is pulling himself up to standing. There is no stopping him. He is on the move. Of course this makes for even more fun for mom and dad as we travel and must stay one step ahead of Caleb.

Snapshot Sunday: Ready or Not (late)

We are a little busy right now with our big move in less than a week.  But our distraction doesn't stop the kids from growing up.  This week Caleb made it out of his room and down the hall on the floor and this morning we found him on his knees in his crib after daddy sat him in his crib.

And of course we can't forget how grown up our little girl is getting.  At church this weekend she introduced her self to people, "I Lydia"

Snapshot Sunday: Trains, Daddy, Old Friends

It was Bob's first week at home and we had a really good and productive week.  One of the surprises we had was that an old friend who we had been out of contact with is moving to Florida and was in town looking for an apartment.   We had been close friends in college and had lost touch but through a Facebook update we reconnected and had a wonderful dinner together this week.  Another cool part is that Tope is from Lagos, Nigeria so we were able to ask her question about our new home.

Caleb and Lydia have been enjoying the extra attention from Daddy this week.  Lydia seems to be a much happier child now that she can get more focused attention and quality time from her parents.  Her love language, at least right now, seems to be quality time.  Caleb is also enjoying the extra attention but it has also become obvious that he has a favorite.  He will reach out from daddy's arms to mommy if she is close by bith a big grin on his face; who can resist that?

Now that we are completely focused on ministry we have decided to prioritize family time.  We had a good model in our college church to have a sabbath day, and to keep it sacred.  Since we are in transition and working from home we have decided this is important for us.  This week we took time to go to Downtown Disney.  Cynthia had 2 free sandwich coupons from one of the restaurants so it made a nice cheap lunch.  While we were there Lydia asked to ride the train so we let her.  She had fun with another girl who was riding as well.  They sat in the engine together.

Snapshot Sunday

One of the out-takes from taking Dedication pictures last weekend.  I love the face upside down.

Everyone is finally feeling better and that meant it was time to get out of the house.  The kids and I went to SeaWorld on Friday and had a great time.  We saw the seasonal Sesame Street show and the Shamu Show which is going to be changing later this month.  Lydia had fun playing in the kids area as well.  We even got to meet some of Lydia's favorite characters.  I was proud of her for just marching up with no fear to each character for her picture.

Snapshot Sunday: Playing together

Lydia likes to play with her ball popper with her dad and as her imagination has grown she has included Elmo and her frog Zoey in the fun as well.  This week Caleb got in on the fun as well.

Snapshot Sunday: Cinderella & Patrick

Last weekend in addition to our Dessert Night at our church we also had a garage sale with some friends.  They have a daughter who is about 8 and so a few things she was getting rid of were perfect for Lydia including this well loved Cinderella Dress-up dress.  She wore it while she watched the movie and enjoyed dancing in it as well.  Her favorites this week are Aladdin, Cinderella, and making its way up is Beauty and the Beast.

Little Man, Caleb is growing fast and we can't stop him.  He turned 7 months old this week so here is his monthly picture with the dog.  He is moving around and starting to push to up on his knees and hands so very soon we will have a very mobile boy.  He has to keep up with his sister after all.
